Allergy
Allergies are overreactions by the immune system to usually harmless substances like pollen or dust mites. Such substances, (called allergens) can be inhaled swallowed or touched. When this happens in an allergic person it triggers a response in certain cells in the skin, the lining of the airways, lungs & stomach. The cells known as mast cells release an irritant called histamine. Histamine is produced to help combat foreign invaders. It does this by increasing the blood flow around damaged cells which floods the area with powerful antibodies called neutrophils, which attack any unwanted foreign invaders. Unfortunately histamine also causes pain, swelling & itching which make up the symptoms of an allergic reaction. Antihistamine drugs are often used to treat allergies because they simply inhibit the release of histamine, which reduces any reaction. However, by literally removing the body's first line of defence, antihistamine drugs remove the body's ability to naturally wash away harmful substances which, can leave the body more vulnerable to infection etc. Xlear Nasal Wash may help to reduce the severity of allergic reactions of the sinuses by helping to wash out old allergens that have already adhered to the sinuses, and acting as a barrier against new allergens, thus preventing the need for histamine to be released.
